FC must not be hunted
Ý
Ý
by Ben Rossignol
Ý
We must talk about tigers roars
If no one takes care they will be gone
Roars will be silenced
Ý
Ý
Fc is a hungry tiger it must be fed
It must be nourished
In order for it to roar
Ý
Ý
Children and adults use fc to roar but it must be believed and not
hunted
Or silenced with carelessness
For just like the tiger in the jungle
Fc will be endangered
Let fc soar
And tigers will roar
With hunters no more

Ben Rossignol is ten years old and has been using facilitated communication since he was six. Ben often types detailed messages revealing unknown information to his facilitator. Ben's sister Heather used FC in the past but now does most of her typing independently.
Ben, Heather, their parents Debbie and Ken, and their
speech/language pathologist Lynda Mazzola will be presenting at the
May 5-6 New England Facilitated Communication Conference in South
Portland. The title of their presentation will be: FC Must Not Be
Hunted.
The purpose of Facilitated Communication In Maine is to promote the appropriate use of facilitated communication through education, technical assistance, and support to people with disabilities, parents, educators, speech and language pathologists support providers, and other interested individuals. The project provides up-to-date information on current best practices, introductory and advanced workshops on the technique, resources regarding theoretical and practical components of facilitated communication and ongoing support to a network of resource persons who provide local education and support to other facilitators.
