With Challenging Behavior

You need to install Apple QuickTime to view this movie. Go to: http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab, or read the transcript Maria: Hi, I’m Maria Timberlake from the Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies at the University of Maine. In the following clips you are going to hear from some folks from Vassalboro Community School talking about their student support center. And Vassalboro has done extensive work in the area of including all students in the life of their school and community. And like other schools they’ve struggled with issues of behavior and they sought to reconcile their desire for an inclusive environment with the need for some therapeutic quality behavior programming. And what they’ve come up with is called the student support center and they are going to share that with you right now. You will hear from Kevin Michaud, the principal, Dianna Gram, the assistant principal and special ed. director, Sandy Rowe, who’s a teacher in the student support center and Mary Bragdon, ed. tech., who supports students. So, if you would like further information after you view the clips, you are welcome to contact Vassalboro Community School and they will be happy to talk with you.
