Announcing a unique opportunity for your Student Assistance Team!

November, 2002

The Student Assistance Team Unit at Maine Department of Education invites your SAT to collaborate with The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion (CCI) in an opportunity for professional development regarding students with challenging behavior.

What:

The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion will provide an initial workshop on January 24, 2003 on Challenging Behavior: Supporting Students' Curricular and Social Participation in General Education Classrooms. This will be at a central location depending on the geography of the schools chosen. The Center for Community Inclusion staff will provide one day of consultation in each school with teams, to assist in integrating the concepts presented in the workshops, into their local practices. An advanced session on additional strategies is scheduled for May 7, 2003. Teams will have the opportunity to network with other participating teams and learn from each other. Data will be collected on the outcomes agreed upon by the local SAT and the Center for Community Inclusion.

When:

December 2002 - May 2003

All teams will reconvene on May 7, 2003 for an advanced workshop.
