New CED Report
Committee for Economic Development's first policy statement of 2002 was
released in Washington, D.C. on February 5, 2002. In
Preschool for All:
Investing in a Productive and Just Society, CED argues that all children should
have access to high-quality pre-kindergarten classes, offered by a
variety of providers, for every child whose parents want them to
participate. For more information, please contact Christine Ryan at
212-688-2063 ext. 248 or christine.ryan@ced.org. Copies are
available for $15.00.

Transition to Kindergarten Report Available
The transition to formal schooling is a landmark event for millions of
children, families, and educators. But research indicates that the transition
practices commonly used in schools may not be well suited to the needs
of children and families. Our new policy brief, "Transition to
Kindergarten," includes a review of existing practices and policy
recommendations. We have also summarized the brief into a two-page
fact sheet.
