Our Systems Change School District Partners

Since the award of Maine's Statewide Systems Change Project from the U.S. Department of Education in 1993, LEARNS has sought partner districts through a competitive bid process. Districts are required, in the competition, to identify goals and objectives related to the implementation of inclusive educational practices and which are coordinated with their School Improvement Plans (now IASA plans). In the first round of the systems change project partner districts were sought by regions-a collaborative of 3-5 districts. The last two rounds have sought individual districts. In addition to indepth technical assistance and support from LEARNS staff, each region or district is the recipient of a grant to support the implementation of its goals and objectives.

We would like to take this opportunity to recognize our current and past school district partners. In these districts, students with and without disabilities are growing and learning together due to the commitment of families, educators, and community members to honor and respect the diversity of the individual gifts and talents that each and every student brings to the school community.
