Prevention Center of Excellence
The Prevention Center of Excellence (PCoE) supports
activities to identify needs in and expand systematically-informed
prevention to diverse areas of human health and welfare throughout Maine
and beyond. The PCoE was established in 2005 as a collaboration with
Maine’s Office of Substance Abuse (OSA) and the U.S. Office of Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and identified
communities in Maine that were underserved by existing substance abuse
prevention programs and provided the information necessary to craft
prevention strategies relevant to these communities.
The PCoE continues to address broader prevention and
health promotion domains and will develop projects that reflect the
principles of the Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies
in its prevention work.
