Collaborative (COPC)
The HUD COPC Program
In 1994, the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of
University Partnerships launched the Community Outreach Partnership
Center (COPC) program to foster and support collaborations between
institutions of higher education and communities. COPC is HUD’s
primary vehicle for engaging colleges and universities in:
Empowering
local communities
Improving
local communities
Improving the
quality of education and scholarship
Helping HUD
fulfill its mission
Improving
relations between campus and community
The HUD COPC
program provides seed funds (up to $400,000 over three federal
fiscal years) to enable institutions to start and/or expand
community partnerships.
In 2005 a HUD/COPC grant was awarded to
the University of Maine Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center.
