Biobehavioral Informatics
for Newborn Screening
This collaboration between the Center for Community Inclusion and
Disability Studies and the Maine Department of Health and Human
Services, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, is aimed at helping
families raise healthy children through early childhood screening and
follow-up. An enhanced informatics system, ChildLINK, integrates the
information from the State of Maine Electronic Birth Certificate with
information from the Newborn Hearing Screen, the Newborn Metabolic
Screen, and the Birth Defects Registry. The goal of this collaboration
is to help families receive information and appropriate services that
will benefit both parents and children.
