Graduate Study in Early Intervention

How Do I Get Started With FirstClass?

Suggestion: Please print and complete these checklists, and keep them for your own personal use.
Check here when completed: Checklist items:

Connecting to the Internet

If you do not have an internet service provider (ISP), e.g. Verizon or Adelphia, you may use the University's ISP--UNET. You must get a UNET account from the University. As a UMaine student, you are entitled to 50 free hours of Internet access, if you use UNET. Visit the UNET Accounts and Remote Access to the Internet page for more information.

Installing First Class Software

A FirstClass e-mail account will be established for you after you have registered for class. You will be contacted regarding the account one week after the EI Graduate Program registration deadline for your course.

Install the FirstClass application onto your computer. You may download FirstClass for free at the UMaine Information Technologies FirstClass Client website or you can purchase a CD from Information Technologies (581-2506).

Self-Guided Tour of First Class

Take the UMaine InformationTechnologies FirstClass Tutorial to familiarize yourself with FirstClass and complete the competency requirements.

Sending Us an E-mail

Send the professor for your class, Sandy Doctoroff, an e-mail from your FirstClass account. The e-mail address is:  sandra.doctoroff@umit.maine.edu. In your e-mail message, identify yourself and the course you are enrolled in, including the day the class meets and the location where you will attend.

Printing note: If a page prints off the paper, go to your browser's File menu, select Page Setup, then select "Landscape" for a different printing view.
