Once new students have registered for a class, they will be
able to access the FirstClass e-mail communications system. They will need
to first obtain a FirstClass username and password by calling the IT Help
Center at 1-207-581-2506 or going to their office in the basement of Shibles
Hall on the UMaine campus in Orono.
Once they have obtained a username and password,
they will need to download the FirstClass software to their
computer. Instructions for installation can be found on the web at
http://www.umaine.edu/it/software/firstclass/
It is helpful to print out the instructions listed
there, and follow them to install the software. If they have
questions about downloading or installing FirstClass they can
contact the IT Help Center at UMaine, at 1-207-581-2506. (The IT
Help Center is open during the school year from 8:00 in the morning
until 9:00 at night. Vacation schedules will vary from this. They
have the same software for sale for $2, if you would like to buy it
there instead of downloading it.)
