~ A Completed Project ~ The Principal's Project is a completed project, which was designed to identify, enhance, and disseminate effective strategies for ensuring that students with disabilities are integrally included as part of building-wide school improvement and reform initiatives and are accommodated accordingly. This purpose was addressed through a directed, focused investigation of how selected principals in 5 states (Maine, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Colorado, and Montana) align inclusive educational practices with school-wide improvement and reform initiatives, and how those decisions and strategies manifest themselves at the school and classroom level. Specific attention was dedicated to (1) describing the strategies administrators use to align general and special education reform initiatives for all learners; (2) maximizing the effectiveness of these strategies; and (3) identifying ways to disseminate findings that will enhance adoption and use by others.
